About AskDover
AskDover is an independent, non-partisan public records site for residents, neighborhood associations, journalists, and researchers in Dover, Delaware. It brings city meetings, votes, and spending records together and links to the original sources so you can check them yourself.
Who runs AskDover
AskDover is an independent project run by a Dover resident, who pays for it out of pocket. It is not part of, or endorsed by, the City of Dover or any other government, candidate, or political party. The person who runs it has chosen not to be named on the site, so judge it by its records: check what we publish against the original sources, and tell us when we get something wrong.
How we use AI
AI writes much of what you read here, including transcripts, speaker names, meeting summaries, and the answers from AskDover. AI makes mistakes, and it can sound confident when it is wrong. A person does not review every item before it appears.
The original record is what counts. Before you rely on something or repeat it, open the source linked beside it.
Found a mistake?
Email support@askdover.org with the page and what looks wrong. If you can, include a link to the correct record. A real person reads every message. Please don't send private information you wouldn't want stored.
How AskDover works
City decisions are scattered across hours of recordings, scanned PDFs, state campaign finance databases, and bid spreadsheets. AskDover brings these records together in one place you can search:
- Meetings since 2000: agendas, minutes, packets, and video for City Council, its committees, and the Planning Commission.
- Transcripts: each statement links to that point in the recording, when we have one, so you can hear the speaker yourself. AI writes the transcripts, so they can contain mistakes.
- Mayor and council records: roll-call votes, meeting attendance, salaries set by city code, campaign committee filings, and annual financial disclosures.
- Money: state payments to Dover-area payees, competing contract bids, and Delaware business licenses, with links to public records.
