DESIGN COMMITTEE MEETING MINUTES Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2019 12pm CEN DEL Foundation Building stating that Josh was currently over budget on the Family Dollar mural. Kristin told the group that supplies purchased for the M&W mural would also be used for the Family Dollar mural which was not taken into account in the financial breakdown of the projects. Kristin also shared that she was also tracking the expenses related to the mural and that it was important she also receive all invoices submitted. VI. Utility Boxes Prior to the meeting, Josh had sent the committee a design by Jasmine Sablan which featured two designs she was proposing for the third to last traffic box to be designed. The group voted against the proposed design with a large face and the phrase “Smile” and suggested she redesign her “Good Day/ Good Night Dover” concept in more detail prior to a decision being made. Tina stated her concern that prior to reimbursement the committee should ensure that the final design and approved design were the same. Will expressed his appreciation to the group for their support of the project. Rosie stated she intended to take pictures of the boxes so that the group could have an inventory. VII. Christmas Lights Tina shared with the group that the wreaths were coming back this Christmas but that the banners would also be hung. The City would be hanging banners on every other light post and wreaths with new support structures on the other posts. Tina was going to follow up with the City to figure out the plans for the rollout because there was a mismatch of timing as far as the rollout of the banners and the wreaths so the Committee had expressed concern. VIII. First Fridays Tina let the group know about the Paint Night Dover event which would be held on the Green. It was featured in the Mispillion Art League’s brochure of statewide events. IX. Public Comments Elena expressed concern about the lack of tulips this past spring and asked if the City had any plans for the following spring. Trish said she would bring up the issue in her neighborhood meeting and Tina suggested the committee members attend a Council meeting to express their concerns. X. Adjournment Next meeting date is October 9, 2019.
