Police Athletic League Meeting Notes
October 27, 2021
The Dover Police Athletic League (PAL) continues to provide educational and recreational
activities for the youth of our city. We’re currently providing programs for two schools within
the capital school district. The first school is William Henry Middle School and the PAL program
meets every Tuesday and Thursday from 4:15 pm to 6:00 pm. The second school is Central
Middle School and the PAL program meets every Monday and Thursday from 4:00 pm to 5:00.
*November will be the start of the PAL program at East Dover Elementary on specific
Fridays*
The Dover PAL would like to request approval to co-host a basketball Thanksgiving break “Open
Gym.” The event will be partnered with Central Middle School and run during Capital School
District’s Thanksgiving break. The dates of the open gym will be from November 20th to
November 28th. (Closed gym on the 25th and 26th.) The hours of the open gym will be 8:00 am-
12:00 pm. This open gym will only be for Central Middle School and Dover High School. The
goal is to provide students with organized recreational activities during the holiday break.
The Dover PAL will be partnering with the Delaware Department of Corrections Academy Class
to clean up the Central Middle School outdoor classroom. The outdoor classroom was renovated
by numerous organizations in the past and requires scheduled maintenance. The Department of
Corrections is has requested to assist with a community event and the outdoor classroom would
be a perfect event.
The Dover PAL has started the strategic planning for the 3rd Annual Youth Football Combine
which will be held at Delaware State University or Dover High School. PAL has confirmed the
date for this event to be held in June 2022. The date and time of the event will be TBD.
The Dover PAL has started the strategic planning for the “3rd Annual A Day In There Boots” event
to be held at the Delaware State Fire School. This event will be in July of 2022. The date and
time of the event will be TBD.
The Dover PAL has started the strategic planning for the 2nd Annual “Outrunning Childhood
Cancer” 5k run and 1-mile walk. We will the partnership with the Ronald McDonald House of
Delaware. The 5k was very successful with approximately 150 participants.
