DDP Design Committee Meeting Minutes April 11, 2018 12:00PM, CenDel Foundation Building I. Call to order – Kristin Pleasanton, Design Committee Chair II. Roll call – Members present: Kristin Pleasanton, Dawn Melson-Williams, Will Grimes, DDP Staff: Marlene and Tina III. Approval of Minutes– Minutes of the March 14, 2018 were provided. IV. New Business A. New Items for Loockerman Way plaza: Tina presentation catalog information on LED lighting as other seasonal decorations on the light poles. The preferred items were stars as a group of stars or a single star with filigree to be done in white and blue. Cost is estimated at $350 each with a 20% discount. 8-10 items are needed. B. Possible New Merchant Façade Recommendations at 131 West Loockerman Street: Discussed location. Business owner was not present to discuss her ideas. C. DDP Electrical Box – Dover High design review: Review of electrical box design for box located at Governors Avenue and Loockerman Street. Box to be painted on all sides with the following items: Old State House & Fireworks; Senator head; Shop Eat Explore Repeat; Fruits & Vegetables for Farmers Market; artist names. Background of Delaware Blue. Committee discussed design and granted approval with the request to change the ice cream cone to a cupcake and ensure correct name of the Farmer’s Market. V. Old Business A. NBB Grant: DDP is working on gathering the items requested to be submitted to Diane Laird. There is a question about the timing of the grant award and reporting and also receipt of grant revenue vs. budget/finance tracking. B. Murals Update: It was reported that Josh continues to work on concepts for the design of the mural for the wall facing Loockerman Way. C. Façade Grant Updates (Status of Façade Grants): Project extensions of 3 months will be granted to Gunn Wealth Management and Schmittiger & Rodriguez. The project at 305 South Governors Avenue by EJB Inc. has expired. Little Plan B, LLC and House of Coffi have project underway. Discussion noted that the new Salon inside My Roots would be eligible to apply for a grant (for signage) as it is considered a separate business. VI. Other A. The Parking Study has suggested a series of improvements to the Minor Street Alley area. There is a question whether we could specifically earmark the Façade Grant for work in that area. Discussion noted the need for additional funding to do that as the Façade Grant program is first come first served. Design Committee Meeting Minutes – April 2018 Page 1 of 2

B. A concept for a series of Banners for Comic Con was noted as there may be a willing sponsorship. Discussion noted that is really is a question for the City’s Public Works Department regarding the availability of staff for installation and the ability to install (do locations have brackets). The Design Committee/DDP has an established schedule for our yearly banner program installation; it does not include a banner change- out for this event. VII.
