SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING - ES ACTION (PUBLIC) - Potential Land Acquisition

SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING A Special Council Meeting was held on December 10, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. with Council President Slavin presiding. Members present were Mr. Neil, Mr. Lewis (arrived at 6:36 p.m.), Mr. Cole, Mr. Polce, Mr. Hare, and Mr. Lindell. Mr. Anderson and Mr. Sudler were absent. Mayor Christiansen was also absent. Council staff members present were Mrs. Mitchell and Mrs. McDowell. Others present were Mr. Charles Salkin (arrived at 6:38 p.m. and departed at 6:48 p.m.) and Mr. Gerald Street (arrived at 6:38 p.m. and departed at 6:48 p.m.). ADOPTION OF AGENDA Mr. Neil moved for approval of the agenda, seconded by Mr. Lindell and unanimously carried. Mr. Hare moved to recess into Executive Session pursuant to 29 Del. C. §10004 (b)(2) - Preliminary discussions on site acquisitions for any publicly funded capital improvements, or sales or leases of real property. The motion was seconded by Mr. Lindell and unanimously carried. The Special Council Meeting recessed into Executive Session at 6:30 p.m. The Executive Session adjourned at 6:50 p.m. ACTION RESULTING FROM THE EXECUTIVE SESSION Potential Land Acquisition During the executive session, members of Council considered the potential acquisition of property located on Washington Street. Mr. Neil moved to direct Mrs. Donna Mitchell, City Manager, to negotiate with the Jackson family and the Kent Conservancy for property on Washington Street. The motion was seconded by Mr. Cole and unanimously carried. Mr. Hare moved for adjournment, seconded by Mr. Neil and unanimously carried. The Special Council Meeting adjourned at 6:51 p.m. TRACI A.
