SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING A Special Council Meeting was held on September 9, 2013 at 9:40 p.m. with Council President Bonar presiding. Members present were Mr. Dixon, Mr. Lynn, Mr. Perza, Mr. Slavin, Mr. Hare, and Mr. Hutchison. Mr. Anderson and Mrs. Williams were absent. Council staff members present were Mr. Koenig, Mrs. Mitchell, and Mrs. McDowell. Mayor Carey and Police Chief Hosfelt were also present. AGENDA ADDITIONS/DELETIONS By unanimous consent, the agenda was approved as presented. Mr. Hutchison moved to recess into Executive Session pursuant to 29 Del. C. §10004(b)(6) - Discussion of Medical Records, seconded by Mr. Hare and unanimously carried. Meeting recessed at 9:41 p.m. Mr. Hare moved to adjourn the Executive Session, seconded by Mr. Hutchison and unanimously carried. Executive Session adjourned at 9:43 p.m. REQUEST FOR EXTENSION OF WORKERS COMPENSATION BENEFITS During the Executive Session, Police Chief James Hosfelt provided information relative to a work-related injury sustained by Officer Derek Lawson. As a result of the necessary treatment, his recovery time extended eight (8) 8-hour days beyond his Worker’s Compensation benefit; therefore, Chief Hosfelt requested that, in accordance with the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) labor contract, the eight (8) days of Officer Lawson’s vacation time used for recovery be reinstated. Mr. Hare moved for approval to reinstate eight (8) of Officer Lawson’s 8-hour vacation days, seconded by Mr. Lynn and carried by a unanimous roll call vote (Mr. Anderson and Mrs. Williams absent). By motion of Mr. Hare, seconded by Mr. Hutchison, the Special Council Meeting adjourned at 9:44 p.m. TRACI A.
