I'm going to uh gladly support this application. Uh, I what because and uh, I always uh want to have an explanation. I'm going to explain why so that people have a standard of why I'm voting for this. And I may or may not vote for something else. I I'm looking at it for community impact. Um, I'm for every business uh doing well. However, we don't have uh economic development money for every business. And so, I'm looking to see why should this one be different than just helping a business that we do with money we give to DDP with facade grants. A lot of businesses get them, etc. You've gotten that before. Um, but this fund's special and it and one of the criteria is community impact. Even though it's a for-profit business, it meets that community impact tremendously. Um, and the community would be so much poorer without this business. And I think the the micro businesses that depend upon it, the nonprofits, the you've built not just a wonderful business with delicious food, by the way, you know, I had some events, brought some people at events there. Um, but also with quite frankly, it's been a positive thing for the nonprofits. It's been a positive thing to get other businesses started. And so this is an economic development incubator. And I think this is exactly what we're looking for with this fund. It's the exact reason why we developed this fund. We developed this fund so that when we money was came from the sale of properties in Garrison, in particular, that that money wouldn't just be spent. But it would be reinvested back into economic development, and creating jobs, and creating workforce development, and creating new business, and creating a better community. That was the purpose of it. So otherwise, it would just end up getting spent, brought back into the general budget, we'd never see it again, and we would lose the impact. This is the reinvestment so that we can keep building taxable income. We after we do this, your property's going to be more valuable, we'll get more taxes off of it, which is a good thing. Um, but this is a, but it keeps building the economy, jobs, taxable income. And that's what we're doing, reinvesting into the community. Um, with that, if there's no Councilman Lewis?

So I I move that we look at uh that st- that staff um bring brings back to the next meeting a uh a temporary, I I like delineators, Council President, something that the emergency vehicles could go over and could put a sign emergency access only.
Play from 1:25:28Dec 9, 2025, Council Committee of the Whole Meeting
