Play from 5:20:02Nov 25, 2025, Council Committee of the Whole Meeting
Thank you. Uh, unfortunately, you're wrong about the law. I have been working very continually since 2004 to get the law changed. The city charter does not permit us to control rents, plus a lot of things about housing. I've had articles and op-ed pieces in the newspaper. I fought with the state legislature, because that's where it has to come. We can't do that. I have continued to fight it, and there's people in this room know that I have fought this the problem. It's not the city, it is the state. It's the state legislature. I hope that you will listen, that you will get to them, and get your message out to them. We can't do that about housing. I yield.
