Play from 00:51Oct 27, 2026, Council Committee of the Whole
Uh thank you, Mr. Chairman. I I think um Kay was able to answer the question. Um I just wanted to point out that um I can't speak correctional facility downtown, but when uh the mayor organized the unsheltered working group that I was a part of and and also uh Councilwoman Arndt uh and and members out out there in the audience that were on the uh unsheltered, that topic for the family court did come up. Uh we inquired about it. Um what I was told at the time was that the state was going to sell that building and it was also deteriorated, right? A lot of work needed to go into it. Um but uh what I what we were told at that time was um that the property was going to be sold to a developer. I don't know what they were going to do to it, but that uh the condition of the building right now um was not It was going to be a lot of money that would have been needed to, hence they built a new building for you know, for the probably the same reason as the correctional facility. So, I just, you know, not not to put a downer on it, it sounds like it could be still a possibility, maybe uh for a temporary situation, but I just wanted to put on the record that the unsheltered did um bring that up. You know, at the time, I I don't know if the correctional facility that uh Councilman Lewis was talking about was on the table at that time, but we knew that the family court was going to eventually, you know, be vacated and we uh we did seek out information on whether or not we could acquire that that building. So, just wanted to put that out there. Hope that they don't sell it and we are able to get it or use it, but at the time we did look into it uh back then. So, with with that said, I yield.

Yeah, I I agree with some of the things Mr. Neil said. I'll disregard the uh political statement, but um I I'll agree with having the conversation, just like Councilwoman Arndt. I just don't agree with the with the motion uh because I think that the process should start to move forward until we hit a brick wall. So I I don't think we should halt anything based on a motion. Uh nothing's going to be resolved before the election, like Councilwoman said Councilwoman Arndt said. I don't think we need to take any action tonight. You know what I mean? It's it's a little early for that. So I'm not going to support the uh the motion on the table right now. I yield.

Thank you, Council President. Um, to begin with, I went to the Family Court ribbon cutting ceremony. Also attended two construction and property code enforcement board appeals meetings. Also went to the DEMEC dinner. Also had a meeting with DDP with the EPA Riverwalk assessment with also Jason Lyon in attendance, our assistant city manager, and we had a Village of Dover town hall meeting at the library and attended that. Other than some constituent complaints that I'm working on, that's pretty much my report. And thank you, Council President.

Thank you, Mr. Chair. No, actually, um, I fielded a call, not nearly with those, yeah, I know, I know. Um, you know, that that the, um, one one of the neighbors within our district is shining a light, and we understand how you want your backyard, you know, to to be able to be lit, but it shouldn't impede on somebody else's property, I don't think. So that's that's one of the things. This has been an ongoing issue, light going into somebody's bedroom window. That's basically, uh...
