I want to thank members of the Legislative, Finance, and Administration Committee for their time and attention tonight. I want to thank you for uh for taking a look at an important issue. And when you do, you need to look at it honestly, and the honest truth is
Play from 5:33:56Nov 25, 2025, Council Committee of the Whole Meeting
that this is about the safety of people. It's about the safety of people in medians and elsewhere like if like that. It's about the safety of people driving. The reason why we don't even allow political signs in medians is because they're too much of a distraction. So how in the world can somebody standing there with a sign not be a distraction when they're moving and sometimes entering the roadway? It's as our Chief said, you have to pass a law that has some enforcement into it. We seem to be allergic to the idea of accountability. Now you have 99.9% of the city that somebody can do the same activities. However, what you can't do is recklessly endanger yourself and other people. So a woman who was talking about how her experience trying to avoid somebody got into an accident and was out of work 2 years, what happened to her rights? That our attorney has come up, has drafted something that is very sensible, is something that is worth defending, and is something that we need to enact.
