Mar 10, 2026, Council Committee of the Whole Meeting
The reason I'm asking is apparently there are very, very, very limited resources for intact homeless families. And they get separated. And I think if you have an intact family that's looking for help, they deserve to get help somewhere.

I also vote no. Um the overwhelming majority of the people in my district that have reached out to me are not in favor of having people on the medians in West Dover, at least in our neighborhoods. Um the sidewalk is very accessible, it's wider, the cars can still stop and support them. I I empathize with the needs of the people, but I'm very concerned about safety. And if one person gets killed, the poor soul that hit hit them unintentionally is likely to be sued and lose everything they've ever had and be out on the corner as well. I think it's a very uh serious problem. I do agree we need to find good solutions, and all of the concerns voiced, I understand them, but I have to represent my constituents. So I do not support this uh proposal.

So, I mean, it seems to me you have your hands tied. And especially if both vehicles are registered. Does the... do you... are you the only ones that ticket cars that are parked like that or does the city police department ticket them also?
Play from 19:37Jan 15, 2026, Code Board of Appeals Meeting
Okay. So it would only be if she had left them on the street that it would be the City of Dover...
Play from 20:02Jan 15, 2026, Code Board of Appeals Meeting
...police department. Okay. Does the city... does the... Just out of curiosity, does the police department have more authority than you do?
Play from 20:08Jan 15, 2026, Code Board of Appeals Meeting
No, but I mean on... if they... if she had left the car on the city street.
Play from 20:18Jan 15, 2026, Code Board of Appeals Meeting
They could tow it, but you can't because it's on her property.
