Play from 2:36:17Nov 25, 2025, Council Committee of the Whole Meeting

Play from 2:57:36Nov 25, 2025, Council Committee of the Whole Meeting

Play from 3:00:01Nov 25, 2025, Council Committee of the Whole Meeting
Thank you. And it's not a a question or anything that you uh need to answer. Uh it's more like say a statement, and I do have a motion to make, and before I make my motion, I do want to say that, um, you know, I appreciate you bringing this forth. Um, and I appreciate the fact that, you know, you said, well maybe it's some accountability because we all have accountabilities that we have to take in life, period. So I appreciate that. Um, before I make my motion, I'm I'm going to tell you where it's coming from. I think that, um, maybe it'd be more beneficial, uh, all the way around that maybe we have you to link up with the, um, HR director and maybe repost it externally, uh, to see what we, you know, what type of pool we get, and then go from there and and and revisit, you know, um, what we have then. Cuz I think, like you said, it's a little unfair that you're here at this point, for not only the candidate, but also for us, looking at budgetary issues and hikes in taxes, I mean not taxes, but you know, electric bills, and just trying to be good stewards, period. Um, but also trying to get the job done, right? Trying to make sure we have what we need to do as proficient job. So I would offer, I'm I'm going to make a motion that that uh we have, you know, the Chief of Police to um coordinate with or work with HR department to externally um post the job and and and see where we are with a pool of people. Maybe post it maybe for 30 to 60 days, um and see where
Play from 3:12:04Nov 25, 2025, Council Committee of the Whole Meeting
Second to the motion?
Play from 3:13:30Nov 25, 2025, Council Committee of the Whole Meeting
Moved and seconded to uh work with HR to repost the position and uh do we uh, did did I do I just have a question about that, Mr. Mayor, you're recognized.
Play from 3:13:34Nov 25, 2025, Council Committee of the Whole Meeting
Discussion, it's been moved and seconded.
Play from 3:14:00Nov 25, 2025, Council Committee of the Whole Meeting
Mr. Mayor, you're recognized.
Play from 3:14:06Nov 25, 2025, Council Committee of the Whole Meeting
An hour?
Play from 3:23:30Nov 25, 2025, Council Committee of the Whole Meeting
Make sure.
Play from 3:23:34Nov 25, 2025, Council Committee of the Whole Meeting
Put that down, now. And what's the range?
Play from 3:24:16Nov 25, 2025, Council Committee of the Whole Meeting
Okay, and so, and that's the maximum range, yeah?
Play from 3:24:37Nov 25, 2025, Council Committee of the Whole Meeting
And then the mid-range is going to be right in between, right?
Play from 3:24:41Nov 25, 2025, Council Committee of the Whole Meeting
Yes, sir.
Play from 3:25:22Nov 25, 2025, Council Committee of the Whole Meeting
You are. We have two employees that, and they're currently paid, yes.
Play from 3:25:28Nov 25, 2025, Council Committee of the Whole Meeting
Oh, we do, we... She was sick last time so we have it on schedule for December. At least, so we won't call it quarterly, we'll call it triennial...
Play from 3:25:34Nov 25, 2025, Council Committee of the Whole Meeting
we'll get it, uh, get it every three months, every four months.
Play from 3:25:42Nov 25, 2025, Council Committee of the Whole Meeting
Okay, thank you.
Play from 3:25:47Nov 25, 2025, Council Committee of the Whole Meeting
I'm still leaning for...
Play from 3:25:49Nov 25, 2025, Council Committee of the Whole Meeting
Now, don't, don't go, don't go away, Ms. Murney.
Play from 3:26:19Nov 25, 2025, Council Committee of the Whole Meeting
Because, uh, you had a, you had a compromise...
Play from 3:26:22Nov 25, 2025, Council Committee of the Whole Meeting
Thank you, uh, Chairman Anderson, and I appreciate um your feedback and suggestion in regards to citywide versus not just one person.
Play from 3:27:56Nov 25, 2025, Council Committee of the Whole Meeting
But my question is, will we be right what any type of tax hike, any type of hike period would have to be How would the constituents, would the constituents have to consume us doing that?
Play from 3:28:03Nov 25, 2025, Council Committee of the Whole Meeting
Well, most likely at to some point, the constituents will have to bear some type of
Play from 3:28:41Nov 25, 2025, Council Committee of the Whole Meeting
Right, and and and that's a great caveat. However, as we as we
Play from 3:28:49Nov 25, 2025, Council Committee of the Whole Meeting
as we, and you know where I'm going.
Play from 3:28:52Nov 25, 2025, Council Committee of the Whole Meeting
A lot of times the caveat is is is not adhered to, and then we're right back to where we are right now today, right? And trying to reinvent the wheel, trying to put a Band-Aid on something that is obviously broken.
Play from 3:28:54Nov 25, 2025, Council Committee of the Whole Meeting
I think I'd rather go back to this let's deal with this isolated situation here, and then um work together to see how we can get to where we need to be for our employees, and I'm all about employee well-being, health, and, you know, all of that. But also we have a fiduciary duty to our constituents
Play from 3:29:03Nov 25, 2025, Council Committee of the Whole Meeting
to keep the cost
Play from 3:29:41Nov 25, 2025, Council Committee of the Whole Meeting
down and not keep hiking because, uh, we, I'm
Play from 3:29:42Nov 25, 2025, Council Committee of the Whole Meeting
not going, I'm not for that. Everyone's feeling it, you know, not just our constituents, I'm feeling it. I'm sure everyone else in the room is feeling it.
Play from 3:29:44Nov 25, 2025, Council Committee of the Whole Meeting
Mhm. And we have other pressing matters, uh, social problems
Play from 3:29:49Nov 25, 2025, Council Committee of the Whole Meeting
we that need funding to help with, so that we can have economic, uh, development and vitality for downtown Dover and Delaware pe- period.
