Campaign finance
Delaware lets school board candidates who plan to raise or spend less than $5,000 file a Certificate of Intention instead of forming a campaign committee. They do not file campaign finance reports unless they go over $5,000.
Filed a Certificate of Intention, so no campaign finance reports are required and none are filed.
- March 12, 2025Certificate of Intention: Vickie Pendleton, CF ID 05006361

Um, I just have, well, um Mrs. Geiss mentioned the IABs, and that would have been a question for me too for me as well.
Um, the other thing that I'm interested in seeing, I'm interested in seeing the disaggregated data.
Um, and then one of the things we used to do, because we know we have um, we can track, well, for lack of a better term, track, we can see where how kids did in sixth grade, seventh grade, eighth grade, and then um
and have conversations with kids about, okay, sixth grade, this is where you were. You need this, because it may have been okay in sixth, but that same score won't help you in seventh and same thing with eighth.
So I'm just curious if that's part of a conversation that maybe teachers have with with students, or if they take a look at that deeply. Um, because I think sometimes kids realize, I was not that far away. You know, just a little bit more, whatever may help. So that's about all I have, but I would like to see the uh other data, please.
Hi. Yes. I really don't have a question, but you know that the barbershop, we call it Barbershop Read with my sorority for educators, National Sorority Phi Delta Kappa Incorporated. We uh implemented that about 4 years ago, putting books in barbershops downtown Dover. So, um
Um, the resource center at Solid Rock, that's a family resource center? Do you have books in or do you know if parents utilize that?
Um, I do not have any questions, but well maybe I do, anyway. Um you mentioned, I know you- this work has been done with the University of Delaware, um the role that they're playing. But um since you get student teachers from Delaware State University and from Wilmington U, do you have a a thought about, and I know they're not certified, but when they come in the expectation will be whatever that um mentoring teacher is doing, that student teacher should be doing. So do you have a thought of possibly looping in the other universities, and at at least with their TEP programs, to do some kind of workshop with the student teachers, that prior to them coming in or anything like that?
Uh, good evening again. As you see that we are, the board members, we are here, and others as well, uh, leadership here, with our pink on. Dr. Calhoun, okay, I'm calling you out. Um,
we we truly um believe in supporting anyone who has struggled with any kind of illness. So, as we know that this month is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and so since this is our meeting for October, we wanted to say that we are standing with anyone in our district who may have survived, and then um if you've lost a family member to breast cancer or anything of that nature. I have a sister who is a twice survivor, so this is really near and dear to my heart. You started this, but I'm not going to cry. But anyway, um
but what I was able to do between the last time and this time, not not a lot, but of course it was mentioned, homecoming and went to the game, did another visit at the middle school, Mr. Robinson and Dr. Satchell, they're doing a fabulous job there, um and the teachers, and anyone in that building responsible for touching the lives of our young people. You know, we we heard a lot about the schools before, so when we see these good things happening, it is just as important to highlight those great things that are going on. And I have to say across the district, I have not gotten into other, all the buildings so far this year, but we I will, but what I have seen across the entire district, folks are working. They're earning their keep, not that they did before, but I want to just highlight it this year that um
so I'm very excited in the direction that the district is going. It's going in a very positive direction. I also um, of course, last night we went to the State Teacher of the Year uh dinner, and then um on last Friday the 9th, I had an opportunity again, I know you've heard me mention my other sorority, the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Incorporated. It is a sorority of educators, and last Friday they were approved to present a workshop, so I went in to support them. I didn't go in to present, but I went in to support them. Uh that was a day I had to wear red and gold, and um and so the presentation was on adverse childhood experiences, and it was really a good, it was a good day, and people were, they seem to have been positive with what
