Recycling moves a day: Veterans Day
No City recycling pickup. If your recycling day falls on this holiday, it is picked up the next business day. Leave your can out until it is collected.

December 2026
Recycling moves a day: Christmas
No City recycling pickup. If your recycling day falls on this holiday, it is picked up the next business day. Leave your can out until it is collected.
January 2027
City supplemental tax bills due (only if you got one)
Supplemental bills mailed January 1 are due January 31. These go to properties that changed during the year.
March 2027
Last day for winter heating assistance
Delaware winter heating assistance is available October 1 to March 31. Crisis help for a shutoff notice is available all year.

April 2027
City supplemental tax bills due (only if you got one)
Supplemental bills mailed April 1 are due April 30. These go to properties that changed during the year.
Kent County senior and disability exemption applications due
Apply to the Kent County Assessment Office by April 30, before the tax year. You must be 65 or older by May 31, and any county taxes or fees you owe must be paid by April 30.
Last day to appeal your City assessment
Formal appeal forms for the yearly City assessment are due by April 30. The City posts the assessment list in April.
May 2027
City senior and disability tax reduction applications due
Applications for the City of Dover senior citizen and disability property tax reductions are due by May 31. The City sends out forms by February 15.
July 2027
City of Dover property tax bills due
City tax bills are mailed starting in July and are due by July 31. The City adds a penalty of 1.5 percent a month to unpaid bills.
September 2027
Kent County property tax bills due
Yearly Kent County property tax bills are due to the Kent County Tax Office by September 30. Bills usually go out in early August.
October 2027
Winter heating assistance opens
Delaware winter heating assistance is available October 1 to March 31. Crisis help for a shutoff notice is available all year.
